Clemson football commit, Xavier Thomas was superb in his preseason contest for IMG Academy. The Ascenders upended Carol City High School, 41-22.

Xavier Thomas, committed to the Clemson football program right before their annual Orange and White game this spring. Since then, he has become one of their top recruiters and continues to dominate on the field.

Thomas – originally of Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina – decided to transfer to IMG Academy for his senior season. He joined fellow Clemson commit, Mike Jones Jr. on a ridiculously talented Ascenders defense. Though Thomas is surrounded by elite talent, he is already making his presence felt.

During last night’s contest with Carol City High School, Thomas flew into the backfield and annihilated the opposing quarterback for a huge loss.

At 6-foot-3, 263 pounds, Thomas is a physical specimen. He reportedly runs the 40 in 4.59 seconds, which is impressive for any player, let alone a defensive lineman. Thomas’ first step is second to none, which allows him to get opposing offensive lineman on their heels. The Clemson commit also does a great job of turning speed into power.

Clemson defensive coordinator, Brent Venables has to be licking his chops with the Tigers current recruiting class. Outside of Thomas, Clemson holds commitments from defensive tackle, Josh Belk and defensive end, Justin Mascoll. The Tigers are also considered favorites to land 5-star defensive end, KJ Henry.

Thomas is also hard at work trying to flip 2019 defensive end, Nolan Smith from the Georgia Bulldogs. Smith is Thomas’ teammate at IMG and one of Clemson’s priority targets in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

Games are won and lost in the trenches, and Clemson is loading up on elite defensive line talent to carry them back to the National Championship.
