9. The overall talent is better than any other opponent on the schedule

When I look at the 2017 Clemson football schedule, there is no team that jumps off the page at me that makes me say, “The Tigers can’t win that one.”

That’s because, even if it’s deep down inside, we all know Clemson- at least across the board- is more talented than every team it will face.

When we predicted the spreads for every single 2017 Clemson football game, the Tigers were favorites in all just one game. That’s because Clemson, on paper at least, is the better team than its’ opponents.

The only ones that are close are Auburn, Louisville, and Florida State.

Florida State has plenty of pieces to make a run at a National Championship and they could certainly matchup with Clemson at a lot of positions. Overall, the Seminoles look really good on paper, but I’d still give the edge to Clemson.

The main question has to do with the quarterback.

All three of these teams have, at least right now, more solid answers at quarterback. Auburn just named Jarrett Stidham its quarterback, while Louisville and Florida State return dynamic starters Lamar Jackson and Deondre Francois from last season.

That being said, Clemson still position-by-position is better than all three of these teams and they get two of them (Auburn and FSU) at home.

That talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball and at skill positions on offense, is going to make the difference.
