Clemson Football Update: Ray-Ray McCloud could make switch to DB
Clemson football wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud has been practicing with a green shirt due to a screw put in his hand a few weeks back. He has been working with the defensive backs.
In an interesting development, Clemson football wide receiver and expected starter has been working with the defensive backs on the other side of the ball while recuperating from his injury.
According to Zach Lentz of Clemson Sports Talk, McCloud could stay there “depending upon the what the other wide receivers do.
McCloud is, without a doubt, athletic enough to make a jump to the defensive side of the ball, but I’m not sure about his physicality.
The coaches certainly know more about this than anyone on the outside, but this could be an interesting development as the secondary could probably use a little more help right now than what the receivers need.
At wide receiver, Clemson football would still boast the talents of Deon Cain, Hunter Renfrow, Trevion Thompson, Cornell Powell, Diondre Overton, Tee Higgins, and Amari Rodgers.
If you ask me, I believe you will still see McCloud take the field as a wide receiver this upcoming season for the Tigers. I think the coaches are just trying something out while he is injured, but you never know and can’t ever rule out the possibility.
His speed and experience could be extremely important for the Clemson football defense, which will be replacing cornerback Cordrea Tankersley among others from a year ago. I think McClould could help the defense, especially depth-wise, but I’m not sure he would win a starting spot over the likes of Trayvon Mullen, A.J. Terrell, and Mark Fields.
