Saturday, September 9th: vs. Auburn Tigers

Clemson football very well may start this game as only a three-point favorite or less.

The SEC Tigers return 1,000-yard rusher Kamryn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson in the backfield and will have Baylor-transfer Jarrett Stidham at quarterback.

Defensively, Auburn loses some key pieces on the defensive line in Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson.  They feel pretty good about their secondary, however, but there are certainly questions about who Kevin Steele will rely on to provide a pass-rush.

It very well may be former number-one overall player in the nation DE Byron Cowart.

Keep in mind that Auburn also kept it close last season when the two teams met and, as a matter of fact, had a chance to win the game as time expired on a Hail Mary throw.

All that being said, Clemson is at home and still, in my opinion, is the more talented team. The ACC Tigers, playing in the friendly confines of Death Valley, should certainly get the nod as the favorite heading into the anticipated matchup.

Plus, if Kelly Bryant is quarterback, I’m not too sure that Steele will slow down Clemson’s offense all night, just saying.

The Tigers of the ACC probably win by a touchdown or so, but it will be tightly contested throughout making the spread prediction a little harder.

Spread: Clemson -6.5
