Clemson football’s fall camp begins this week. Here is when it starts, as well as some important dates for you as the fan to keep in mind.

The 2017 Clemson football season is nearly upon us. Here are some dates for you to keep in mind as we head into fall camp and progress closer to the start of the season.

  • Clemson football weigh-ins: Unofficially Tomorrow

At the time of this writing, Clemson football weigh-ins have not been officially announced. It will most likely be tomorrow (Wednesday) in the afternoon.

Typically, the team does weigh-ins the day before practice begins as a way for all the players to officially report and get their weight for the season. All of the guys have been on campus for a while and have even done their photo shoot for the upcoming season.

Weigh-ins, while they may not seem all that important, can still be a good measuring stick for how guys have worked during the season. You’d definitely want to see certain guys shed a few pounds, while others you want them to have gained.

It’s also fun to see where the true-freshmen weigh-in at.

  • Beginning of fall practice: Thursday, Aug. 3rd

Fall practice will begin on Thursday for Clemson football. The Tigers will hold several practices in the coming weeks as they prepare for the upcoming season.

More from Rubbing the Rock

We will have several fall camp reports from the days to come, especially when they transition to full pads.

Everyone will be watching what happens at the quarterback position, but I would encourage everything you read to be taken with a grain of salt. The coaches, for obvious reasons, put up smokescreens to keep opponents from catching on to what they are doing, but it at the very least is something.

The beginning of fall camp is one of the most anticipated events of the summer and should be treated as such.

  • Fan Appreciation Day: Sunday, August 20 at Stadium

Here’s your chance to meet the defending national champions for the first in 30+ at Clemson. Starting at 2:30 p.m., Clemson football fans will be able to meet players and coaches and get their autographs.

I have a feeling there will be several 2017 National Champion footballs, pictures, shirts, and much more signed that Sunday. This may be your only shot to get a signature from some of those guys that played in that game some six months ago and it is always done in the best way possible by an awesome staff.

  • Opening Day: Saturday, September 2nd

You’d be surprised how many Clemson football fans can’t tell you when opening day is or who the Tigers will play.

Clemson will open up the season at high-noon on September 2nd against the Golden Flashes of Kent State. I have feeling this will be much more attended than a normal season-opener against a mid-major opponent.

It will be the first opportunity to see the defending 2017 College Football Playoff National Champions.

That, in and of itself, should be enough to persuade you to make your way to Death Valley.
