Hailing from Greater Atlanta Christian School, Kyler McMichael is one of the most sought after athletes in the 2018 recruiting class. Clemson has been viewed as the favorite to land McMichael for some time now, however, his recruitment has not been as clear as of late.
Just a week ago, McMichael announced the top six schools that he would be focusing on. At the time, McMichael intended to visit each school one more time before coming to a decision. That all changed following his most recent visit to Tennessee for their annual Orange Carpet day.
SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner wrote the following of McMichael following the news that he would be committing this Friday.
"The thought right now is it’s a three-team race with Alabama, Clemson and Georgia battling it out for McMichael. The Bulldogs aren’t feeling confident with where they stand as of Tuesday."
If Kirschner’s opinion is true, then McMichael’s visit to Tennessee was likely just an attempt to cover all of his bases. For that reason, I believe Clemson is in great position to land the four-star athlete.
McMichael’s recruitment is similar to recent Clemson commit, Darnell Jefferies. Similar to McMichael, Jefferies had been favoring Clemson, but was hesitant to pull the trigger. Then, after visiting some of the other programs he was interested in, Jefferies was ready to commit to the Tigers.

If history repeats itself, McMichael will be a Clemson Tiger come Friday. McMichael would provide Clemson with a versatile athlete capable of playing both safety and corner. The Tigers are also looking to sign a running back in this recruiting cycle, which McMichael can play if need-be.
