The Clemson football coaching staff has been busy on the recruiting trail since the start of the summer camp circuit. Today I will be breaking down the offer of 2019 defensive end, Curtis Fann Jr.

Strengths:
Fann is farther along physically than most prospects his age. At 6-foot-3, 245 pounds Fann is nearly unmovable at the point of attack. He is more than capable of sifting through the traffic when defending the run. Fann is a thunderous hitter, he plays hard 24/7.
- Lateral quickness
- Ability to diagnose plays
- Terrific against the run
Weaknesses:
Like most prospects his age, Fann must continue to work on his pad level and the use of his hands. It is rare to see a defensive lineman with polished pass rushing skills on the high school level.
- Stands up off the L.O.S. at times
- Fine tuning his pass rushing repertoire
Fann is going to be one of the most sought after recruits in the entire 2019 recruiting class. There is a premium placed on edge rushers and for good reason. Games have always been won and lost in the trenches, however, with the modern spread offenses running rampant through college football, the need to get after the quarterback is at an all-time high.
Though Fann is currently listed as a weak-side defensive end, I believe he translates better as a strong-side defensive end at the next level. Strong-side defensive ends are primarily responsible for playing to the tight-end side and occupying the C gap. Stopping the run is much more important for strong-side ends than their weak-side counterparts. Fann is especially good against the run already in his young career.
