Clemson fans and college football fans alike are familiar with the lore of Deshaun Watson. The Houston Texans are getting a first hand look at what makes the former Tiger so special.

While at Clemson, Watson consistently showed a maturity beyond his years, the moment was never too big, the lights never too bright.

Arriving in Death Valley as the most highly touted quarterback prospect since Tajh Boyd, Watson had high expectations. Unfortunately a fractured collarbone, sidelined him for the majority of his first spring with the Tigers. On top of that, Watson was in a quarterback race with a much more experienced Cole Stoudt. Rather than sulking, Watson fought through those obstacles, showing flashes of brilliance during his freshman season.

Throughout the rest of his career at Clemson, Watson displayed a resolve few could match. Just ask Nick Saban and Alabama.

The Houston Texans team page recently published an interview in which head coach, Bill O’Brien praised Watson for his dedication to his craft.

"He’s in here all the time, there’s no questioning this kid’s work ethic. He’s in here on the weekends."

In that same piece, Texans quarterbacks coach, Sean Ryan gave his opinion of Watson’s work ethic.

"I really like his approach, his approach to the process which is a day-to-day process of learning to be an NFL quarterback and the many things that come with that, really, it starts with the Xs and Os of our offense."

Obviously Watson is making the most of his NFL opportunity. At this point, I don’t expect much else from Watson, he is everything you want in a quarterback.
