When speaking about rookie quarterback, Deshaun Watson to NFL.com, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said the following.
"Deshaun has come in and been impressive. He’s come in here and done a really good job of putting the time in, learning the basics of our offense, going out on the field. He’s really gotten better every day."
This comes as no surprise to anybody in or around the Clemson football program as Watson was consistently one of the hardest working members of the team. It’s a good sign to hear Bill O’Brien speak so highly of Watson as he does not go out of his way to endorse his players, let alone his quarterbacks.
While O’Brien did mention that Tom Savage is the starter at the moment, it appears as if that is a temporary title. I expect Deshaun Watson to take the reigns of the Texans offense by week one of the 2017 NFL season.
O’Brien went on to say the following of Watson:
"Deshaun’s a hard working guy, he’s been impressive in the meeting room. I think his teammates have a lot of respect for him right away here, the way that he carries himself every day."
Once again this is not a surprise. Watson was able to immediately earn reps with the ones as a true freshman at Clemson because of his knowledge of the game and his poise on the field. Watson epitomizes the term unflappable.
The Texans are going to cause a lot of trouble in the AFC this season. With the defense that the Texans have and the weapons that Watson has at his dispense, Houston is a threat to nearly every team in the NFL.
