Four-star LB Mikel Jones is one of the many visitors set to take in Clemson’s Orange and White game tomorrow afternoon.

The Clemson Tigers are actively recruiting a talented group of outside linebackers in the 2019 recruiting class, including the likes of Anthony Solomon and Brandon Smith.

Mikel Jones is yet another OLB target for the Clemson Tigers in the 2019 recruiting class. I recently caught up with Jones to ask him about his visit tomorrow afternoon.

I asked Jones what he is looking forward to seeing on his visit, to which he replied, “I want to finally meet the coaches and this is my first time up there, so I want to see the football facilities and the campus. I definitely wanna rub the rock.”

Jones is one of the few prospects that Clemson has already extended a scholarship offer to in the 2019 recruiting class and for good reason. Jones is an explosive tackler, capable of making plays from sideline to sideline.

At the moment, it sounds as though Clemson is in good standing with Jones.

“I’m just trying to visit the schools I feel like I would go to, see the campus and interact with the coaches. Clemson is definitely a school I heavily consider, but, I’m taking my time.”

The atmosphere is something that clearly stands out to the Florida native.

“I love the defense and how coach Swinney pumps his players up and coach Venables is a cool guy, he knows the game. I’m also eager to see Death Valley up close and personal.”

Jones, a rising junior, can only have limited contact with schools at the moment, because of the recruiting guidelines, however, coach Venables is his main point of contact with Clemson.

With Jones being former teammates with 2017 Georgia signee, Latavious Brini, it will be interesting to see how his recruitment heats up over the rest of his high school career. We may be in for another great recruiting battle between Clemson and Georgia.
