Twitter reacts to Deshaun Watson’s departure from a Tuscaloosa bar
By now, most college football fans have seen the video of former Clemson football quarterback Deshaun Watson leaving a bar in Tuscaloosa, AL. So what are people saying about the incident?
Before we get to some tweets, here is a little information on the Irish Pub. The Pub is called Innisfree and is located on University Boulevard. It gets its name from the Will Yeats poem, The Lake Isle of Innisfree. Innisfree has been a staple for Bama fans and students since 1998 and one of the original owners is ESPNRadio personality Ian Fitzsimmons. Fitzsimmons left the business for ESPN.
No facts have surfaced on why Watson was in Tuscaloosa but people are talking about his visit to an area “assumed” to be enemy territory.
This tweeter has the answer to “Why”?
Fans from two of the Tigers 2016 opponents expressed their opinions on the bar scene.
Some Alabama fans wanted to let Deshaun know that they don’t agree with the bar patrons.
Apparently, it wasn’t just fans who wanted Watson to leave. Former players Ryan Anderson and Wallace Gilberry were involved and instrumental in the dismissal. Anderson played well in the National Championship game with one sack and two fumble recoveries and Gilberry is currently with the Cincinnati Bengals and played for The Tide from 2004-07. Tailgate Heisman’s tweet suggest that both players are in the video below.
Five and four stars are not just on the football field in Tuscaloosa. However, Innisfree might struggle to maintain its stars after Watson’s visit.
Innisfree did offer an apology and the statement can be found on their website.
"Innisfree Irish Pub TuscaloosaMarch 31 at 9:18pmOver the years we have had thousands of visitors from rival schools and have always treated them fairly. Today was not any different. The unfolding of today’s events were not led by our staff or anyone employed by Innisfree Irish Pubs. Unfortunately a customer attempted to invoke the right to refuse service on our behalf and after being identified, was immediately asked to leave the premises following the incident. We apologize for any inconvenience this incident caused to our customers. We appreciate anyone that chooses to visit our establishment and hope to continue welcoming sports fans for years to come."
Deshaun Watson entered a pub that was built around the welcoming quote, “I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree.” And he quietly walked out to a new quote, “I will arise and go now, and leave Innisfree.”

Those players and fans who wanted him to leave Innisfree are not just happy that he left that day, but they are also happy that he left Clemson.
