What to expect at Clemson’s Pro Day
When the NFL Combine ended on Mar. 6, there were still some questions about a few of the nine Clemson football players. Today those players get one last time to impress scouts and answer the questions that were left unanswered in Indy.
The players NFL scouts are specifically looking to see more from are wide receiver Mike Williams, tight end Jordan Leggett, linebacker Ben Boulware and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins.
Neither player ran the 40 yard dash at the combine. Watkins because of an injured hamstring and the others wanted more time to properly train and postponed it until today.
Williams’ time will be the most anticipated of the day and watched by most NFL personnel and Draft analyst. A time faster than 4.6 probably makes him the first receiver selected on April 26. On the other hand, if he runs a 4.7, he could slide in the draft or remain a projected first or second round pick.
Leggett and Boulware can improve their draft status with better than expected times while Watkins will finally get a chance to wow everyone with his athleticism.
The other five players will also get another opportunity to improve upon their performances in Indy too. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is scheduled to only do the passing drills, but running back Wayne Gallman, wide receiver Artavis Scott, safety Jadar Johnson and cornerback Cordrea Tankersley are expected to participate in all the drills. Gallman, Scott and Johnson will strive to reduce their 4.6 times in the 40 yard dash. Each player is talented and have been productive, but questionable speed could make them day three draft choices.
Center Jay Guillermo is also expected to compete today. He is a draft prospect and today can kick start his path to an NFL training camp.
