Late losses crush Clemson men’s basketball’s tournament hopes

The Clemson Men’s Basketball team is on the outside looking in for the NCAA tournament. The Tigers only hope at this point is to win the ACC tournament Championship and earn an automatic bid.

season, it appeared that Clemson had the talent to make a run at the tournament. Unfortunately the Tigers could not seem to seal the deal late in games.

Of Clemson’s 14 losses 11 have come by six points or less. That is a clear indication of bad game management. If the Tigers had lost two or three down the stretch, then it would be normal. Things happen in sports, however, you do not lose the same way eleven times by chance.

If the Tigers were to squeak into the NCAA tournament it would be short lived. Situational basketball becomes all the more important in tournament play and the Tigers have proven time and time again that they are lacking in such area.

The ACC is an ultra competitive conference in basketball, as such Clemson deserves some credit for playing these top 25 programs as close as they do. That being said, Clemson is in need of change, otherwise they will consistently be the team that falls just short.
