Dexter Lawrence

The biggest, and I mean BIGGEST addition to the Clemson football defensive line in 2016 has been Dexter Lawrence.

Lawrence weighed in at a modest 342 lbs on Monday and since then has not disappointed. In the spring game he was force, drawing double teams and, in some cases, triple teams.

He is going to be a force this season and will see the field early and often.

The coaching staff absolutely loves him and check out what Brent Venables had to say about him- keeping in mind that you rarely hear a lot of praise from Venables especially in fall camp.

"Man, he is such a wonderful, young guy that likes to practice, likes to be coached hard, and never gets his lip stuck out. He knows how to compete. He’s very talented, ultra-talented in both his technique and his toughness and then his skill and mobility. He’s pretty special."

Will he start? Probably not, but you never know.

The only reason you may not see Lawrence in a starting position is, frankly, because of the veteran talent in front of him.

You have guys named Christian Wilkins, Carlos Watkins, and Scott Pagano. Let’s also not forget about former 5-star DT Albert Huggins. Dexter Lawrence will be competing for snaps with all of these guys, but if he continues to be a force the coaching staff will have no choice but to play him a lot.
