2. Sometimes destiny is just too much

It is exactly 1981 miles from Clemson, South Carolina to Glendale, Arizona. There have been so many similarities from statistics to opponents to calendar dates between this season and the 1981 season. I’m not saying that wins Clemson a National Championship on Monday night, but I just think destiny is too much.

It may not actually be “destiny,” it’s just that the Tigers have “It.”

Every now and then a team comes along and they just have “it.” For example, the Jameis Winston-led Florida State Seminoles in 2013 just had “it.” There was no team, no matter how talented they were, that was going to beat the Seminoles.

Florida State just continually found ways to win ballgames. Sometimes, it was Jameis Winston throwing for 300 yards or maybe it was a guy like Devonta Freeman or Karlos Williams breaking off a run for a critical first down. Sometimes it was the defense coming up with a critical stop or forcing a turnover that made the difference in the game. The bottomline is that that Florida State team had “it.”

In the same way, this 2015 Clemson football team has “it.”

Sometimes, it’s the defense that comes up with a key stop. Sometimes, it’s the offensive passing game led by Deshaun Watson or it’s a relentless running game by Watson and Gallman. They just find ways to win and that has been what has gotten them to this point with a chance to become the first team in the modern era of College Football to win 15 games in a season.

This team has faced adversity and has come out ahead every single time. Because of this, there’s no reason for me to believe that anyone will stop this team’s mission of 15-0 and their ability to find a way to win Monday night.
