Four-star wide receiver Diondre Overton also makes our Christmas wish list. He is very talented and has the explosiveness needed to be a wide receiver at the College level.
Now, before you say “we don’t need any more wide receivers, we already have two four-stars signed and a ton of talent on the current team,” I want you to think about what Clemson has become known as: WR U.
You’re telling me we can’t use another explosive wide receiver who is capable of helping the team? Of course we can! You always want to keep stocking talent with more talent. After next season, you may lose Artavis Scott and Mike Williams, which will lead to more openings at the wide-out spot.
Overton will be making his decision between Clemson and NC State and will basically be deciding between two things on the football field: Long range development vs Playing time.
We all know how much depth the wide receiver position has at Clemson. Overton knows that if he goes to Clemson, he will most likely redshirt, but working under a great wide receiver coach in Jeff Scott will, in the long run, make him a better wide receiver.
I believe, as of right now he is torn between the two schools and could go either way. Overton will be taking the holidays with his family and sometime shortly thereafter will be making his decision.
An interesting point is that he is close friends with Clemson wide receiver commit Cornell Powell, who is recruiting him hard to come to Tiger Town with him. It will be interesting to see what he decides, but should he commit to the Tigers, it would be a great pickup for Clemson football recruiting.
