Offensive Tackle

Barry Richardson

The first of our two offensive tackles is Barry Richardson. Richardson was dominant at his time at Clemson and got plenty of playing time from his freshman season to his senior season.

In 2007, Richardson was named a First-team All-American by College Football News and was named a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation. He was durable and reliable as an offensive lineman and did a great job blocking for quarterbacks and opening up holes for running backs.

If you’ve ever seen Barry Richardson in person, you know just how big he is. He was able to use that size and strength to his advantage and become one of the greatest offensive tackles to ever play for Clemson football.

Lee Nanney

Our second offensive tackle comes all the way back from the 1981 National Championship team. Lee Nanney was a co-captain for the 1980 and 1981 squads for Clemson football. Nanney was able to open up holes for the Clemson running game and did an exceptional job pass-blocking, as well.

If you look back at the 1982 Orange Bowl, you can see him making several key blocks that led to big plays. He played the right tackle spot and the Tigers decided to run behind him and it ended in a National Championship.

Nanney was named a Second-team UPI All-American and an honorable mention All-American by the AP in 1981.
