Wide Receiver

This is the first of two slides for wide receivers. This one features the left side of the lineup and the other one will feature the right side for the Clemson football dream team.

Sammy Watkins

The single most explosive wide receiver in Clemson football history is Sammy Watkins. Watkins had the same ability as Spiller to leave others in the dust. He also had a great blend of hands and footwork. I don’t remember Sammy Watkins dropping too many passes thrown his way and, in many cases, he would make a spectacular catch when a ball was a bit overthrown or under-thrown.

He finished his Clemson career with 240 catches for 3,391 and 27 touchdowns in three years in Tiger Town.

Perry Tuttle

Also at wide receiver has to be Perry Tuttle. Tuttle is world-famous for his game-winning catch for Clemson in the 1982 Orange Bowl, which locked up the National Championship for the TIgers. Perry Tuttle ended up being drafted in the first round as the 19th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills.

He had a great blend of speed and strength and had very good hands. Tuttle finished his Clemson football career with 2,543 yards receiving and 17 t0uchdowns in an era that relied heavily on the run and did not pass all that often.
