2. The Tigers are undefeated

Deshaun Watson is the best player on the best team. How can he not win the Heisman Trophy? Watson has led the Tigers to a perfect 13-0 season and Clemson is the only team to have a perfect record at this point in the year.

The Tigers have had to overcome hurdles such as top-10 teams Notre Dame, Florida State, and North Carolina and many motivated teams that wanted to put the Tigers’ magical season and run to an end. Because of Deshaun Watson, however, no team has been able to do so.

If you took Watson off this Clemson team, you may be looking at a 10-2 or possibly worse record. I don’t think the Tigers beat both Notre Dame and Florida State and, who knows, you may not have even been ACC Champions. All of that is speculation, but this one fact remains true: Clemson football is 13-0.

Derrick Henry has a loss to Ole Miss. He could not overcome the Rebels team earlier in the year. Christian McCaffrey has two losses as Stanford could not overcome Northwestern at the beginning of the season or Oregon in mid-November.

Neither one of these Heisman Candidates could carry their team to an undefeated slate, but Deshaun Watson could. I think that should speak volumes to who should be considered for the Heisman Trophy.
