The Top 10 Quarterbacks in Clemson Football History
7. Homer Jordan
To find the number-seven quarterback, we only have to go back one year to find Homer Jordan. Jordan’s statistics aren’t mind-blowing, but what he did at Clemson will forever have him etched in stone as one of the greatest to ever come through Tiger Town.
Homer Jordan took over in 1979 and led some of the most dominant teams in Clemson football history to victory. In 1979, the Tigers finished 8-4 and then finished 6-5 the next season, but what happened next will forever leave Jordan a spot in the legacy of Clemson football.
In 1981, Homer Jordan led the Clemson Tigers to their first, and only, National Championship. The Tigers finished the season 12-0 with a victory over the #4 Nebraska Corn Huskers in the Orange Bowl on January 1, 1982. Jordan was named the offensive MVP for the Tigers and later passed out from heat exhaustion after the game.
He put it all out on the field and deserves all the accolades and recognition for what he was able to do. In an era full of hard-nosed defenses, he played his heart out and led Clemson to heights never reached before.
Homer Jordan finished his career with 3,643 yards passing and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing for 971 yards and 11 touchdowns in 46 total games as a Tiger.
