The Top 10 Quarterbacks in Clemson Football History
10. Brandon Streeter
Rounding out our list at number 10 is former Clemson quarterback and now Tiger quarterback coach Brandon Streeter. Streeter played in 26 games total while passing for 3,504 yards and 17 touchdowns. He barely made the list, however, because he threw 26 interceptions in his career.
Even though the stats don’t look all that impressive, when Brandon Streeter graduated from Clemson, he had broken or tied a total of 11 Clemson football records. He also led Clemson to a Peach Bowl bid his senior season even though he only got to play in eight games due to an injury.
Streeter became known as one of the toughest quarterbacks in Clemson football history, taking a beating in several games and bouncing back. Streeter suffered a split shoulder against Florida State in 1997 and broke his ankle in the spring just to come back and take a beating in 1998.
One of my favorite stories of Streeter was when he was playing against North Carolina and fell awkwardly on his throwing shoulder. Streeter got back up and rushed for 13 yards on the next play and while making his way back to the huddle collapsed. He put his heart and soul into Clemson football and should be remembered as one of the best quarterbacks in Tiger history. He returned just three weeks later and led Clemson to a 58-7 victory over Duke in his final game in Memorial Stadium. The Tigers went on to beat in-state rival South Carolina 31-21 before losing in the Peach Bowl.
