5. The Clemson defense is one of the most complete defenses in the country

The biggest concern of all coming into the season was the Clemson defense. The Tigers lost so much talent to the NFL that many had no clue just how good the defense could be this season.

As a matter of fact, that was many national pundits’ reason for not picking Clemson to finish in the top-10 this season. The defense proved all of them wrong. They look to be on a mission and just completely gashed the Georgia Tech offense, holding them to 71 rushing yards all game long.

Honestly, the Clemson front-four has not had any kind of drop off and the linebackers have looked solid, especially in run-stopping situations. Clemson has one of the best run-defenses in the nation, in my opinion and have looked good, even against strong rushing attacks like C.J. Prosise from Notre Dame.

The Clemson secondary has, unfortunately, had a few blown coverages this season. However, if you tell me they are not one of the best secondaries in the ACC and possibly the nation, you haven’t paid attention. Mackenzie Alexander, Jayron Kearse, and Cordrea Tankersely have been lights out this season.

Yes, they’ve made some mistakes, but they are growing from them. Overall, I love what this defense looks like and they are getting better and gaining more confidence each and every week.
