8. Greg Huegel has surprised all of the naysayers

This may be a small reason and may not even be true by the time the season is over, but as of right now it holds true.

One of the biggest questions Tiger fans had coming into the season was the kicking game. When it was announced that Ammon Lakip would be suspended and walk-on Greg Huegel would be the named the starter, Tiger fans began to worry.

After all, before Chandler Catanzaro the kicking game was horrid to watch and gave me, personally, a terrible anxiety attack any time we attempted to kick just an extra point for several years in the mid-200s.

With that being said, Greg Huegel has looked very solid in his first five outings, even in the face of pressure. He is perfect on the year on extra point attempts and has made 6 of 8 field goals to start the season.

He went 2 for 2 against Louisville in his first career road start, which was one of the reasons Clemson won the game.

His only two misses? One in the Appalachian State game and one from 45 yards out against Notre Dame in the pouring rain.

You have to have a solid kicking to be a title contender and it looks to me Clemson has it. At some point, you will have a game that comes down to kicking and you need a strong-minded guy to put the ball through the uprights. Greg Huegel seems to be extremely confident and mentally tough. It looks like just another reason your Tigers could be in the College Football Playoff.
