Deshaun Watson

I wanted to get the obvious one out the way first. Deshaun Watson is going to be the foundation for Clemson football this season. Without him, I would venture to say that the team does not have anywhere near the season they are expecting this year. However, his importance is going to be even more so on the forefront Thursday night. Why?

The Clemson offense will need him to be a leader and manage the game wisely. Deshaun has been in pressure-type situations before (at Florida State, at Georgia Tech), but has never actually won a game on the road. Obviously, he got hurt and missed a major part of the season last year due to a finger injury against Louisville, but he has a chance to do what he does best and shine in this moment Thursday night.

Watson has most definitely proven he can handle the pressure, but now it’s time for him to win his first career game on the road as a starter. I imagine he may be a bit nervous at first, but expect him to calm down quickly, play confidently, and put this Clemson team in the best chance possible to be 3-0.
