Greg Huegel

This one is pretty obvious, but it is a huge part of the game. Kicker Greg Huegel will make his first ever college football start in Death Valley on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if he has any nerves to begin the season. What I would recommend you watch is his pregame warm-ups.

How does he look? Is he accurate? How much leg strength does he have? These are all questions we want to see answered and we may get a glimpse as to what he can do this Saturday. Obviously, Huegel shouldn’t have to kick a game-winning kick, but he will have 80,000 fans watching him.

In my opinion, if Huegel can be accurate from 35 yards in and is 100% on PAT’s, he will be serviceable for the time being. He may end up proving Tiger fans wrong, but for now serviceable is what we want. We just want someone who knock down the “automatics” and not mess up extra points. It will definitely be interesting to see how he fairs against the Terriers on Saturday.
