Bold Prediction #5: The Tigers make the College Football Playoff, going 12-1.
Clemson loses one game this season, but still wins the ACC and ends up in the College Football Playoff. This, in my opinion, became a lot harder after Reader’s decision to leave, but it’s still a possibility. Many Clemson football fans have given up the dream of making it to the College Football Playoff this season, but I’m telling you this could happen.
Even with the losses, the Tigers have a solid front-seven and elite secondary on the defensive side of the ball and a top-5 offense on the other side of the ball. You don’t have to have a top-10 defense in the nation to win in this new age of College Football, but the Tigers certainly have the weapons on offense to be elite and the talent on defense to be solid.
That’s ALL you need. Obviously, some things have to fall into place, like certain teams losing, but I believe Clemson football will take control of its own destiny and finish the season undefeated or with one loss. The result will be a trip to the College Football Playoff.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, he’s just trying to get us to drink the kool-aid, but I’m here to tell you this is still a serious possibility. If you have the best passing game in America and a solid running game, your offense will be elite. All you need to do is show up each week and give your best effort and things will fall into place. There has been a different buzz around this program all year and I’m not going to let some losses dictate what will happen this season.
Sure, Clemson football has some question marks, but every program does. At the end of the day, however, we know who is talented and who is not and I’m here to tell you that the Clemson Tigers will make the College Football Playoff this season.
