The 2025 season was a journey for former Clemson Tiger star Logan Davidson. After making his MLB debut with the Athletics in May, the former first-round pick was claimed by the Astros and then the Angels, ultimately hitting his first career home run in September against the Mariners.
Despite the nomadic year and a .167 average, Davidson’s raw power remains intriguing. He slugged 15 home runs in Triple-A during 2024 and has shown the ability to play short, third, and second base. In December 2025, the Tampa Bay Rays signed him to a minor league contract with an invitation to big-league camp.
2026 Season Preview:
There is no better place for a struggling former top pick than the Tampa Bay Rays system. Known for "fixing" hitters, the Rays will likely have Davidson focus on his swing decisions this spring.
He enters 2026 as a non-roster invitee (NRI) with a chance to break camp as a utility infielder. If he starts the year in Triple-A Durham, expect him to be high on the call-up list. For Davidson, 2026 is about proving that his first-round talent can finally translate to consistent MLB production.
