The college football "blue bloods" discussion has raged on for years and there's really no end in sight, but one stat might shed a little light on whether Clemson football should be included.
The Tigers have won two national titles over the past decade and have been one of the winningest programs in college football in that span. Not only has Clemson won two national titles but it has sent countless players to the NFL Draft and it has won eight (!!) ACC titles. That's right, the only years in which Clemson didn't win the ACC title over the past decade was in 2021 and 2023.
Success like that doesn't come to just any program, it's the blue bloods that experience that kind of dominance both in and out of conference play.
Dabo Swinney has been a big reason for this chase for blue blood status.
One stat that was posted by CFB Kings on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon proves just how elite Clemson has been for the past decade and how their inclusion near the top of this list might just indicate that, yes, the Tigers are a modern day blue blood.
This may not seem like that big of a deal, but being second nationally in wins over the past decade behind the bluest of bloods, Alabama, is a telling stat. Alabama has been one of the most dominant programs of all time under Nick Saban over the past decade, recording 124 wins since 2015, but Clemson is right there with 119 and a couple of big ones over the Tide.
Clemson is directly ahead of other blue bloods like Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Michigan which has to mean something.
I think this settles the debate. In a "what have you done for me lately" society, Clemson is a modern day blue blood because all the Tigers do is win.
