The Good

Second-Half Defense: After surrendering 24 first-half points, Clemson’s defense locked in, allowing just three points outside of a late fumble touchdown. Swinney praised his unit for “competing their butts off.”

Total Offense: The Tigers posted over 500 yards, spreading the ball to nine receivers. Cade Klubnik threw for 363 yards and three scores, while Adam Randall added 227 all-purpose yards.

The Bad

Missed Opportunities: A drop that could’ve set up a field goal. A missed deep touchdown to T.J. Moore. A failed fourth-down where Swinney said Klubnik “might score” if the execution was cleaner. Clemson had its chances but never finished.

Turnovers: Two costly giveaways — including Randall’s fumble — swung momentum and gave Syracuse a short field.

The Ugly

First Half Disaster: Swinney called it “as poor a half as I’ve seen.” Syracuse raced to a 24-14 halftime lead, fueled by blown coverages, poor tackling, and an offense that couldn’t stay on the field.

History Made (In the Worst Way): Clemson became just the third team in school history to pile up 500-plus yards and lose. “That’s not a stat you want,” Swinney said.

The Record: At 1-3, Clemson is off to its worst start in the Swinney era.
