The NFL just got a whole lot more "Orange," and for Clemson fans, it’s a dream pairing. Our very own Dexter Lawrence—the mountain of a man who anchored the greatest defensive line in college football history—is officially on the move.
In a Saturday night bombshell, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the New York Giants are trading "Sexy Dexy" to the Cincinnati Bengals. The move follows a trade request from Lawrence, whose contract talks with the G-Men stalled over the last few seasons. Their loss is Cincy’s massive gain.
A Tiger Legend Takes Over the AFC
Before wrecking NFL backfields, Lawrence was the heart and soul of the "Power Rangers" in Death Valley. In 40 games as a Tiger, Dex was a brick wall, racking up 162 tackles and 11 sacks while earning three All-ACC selections. He didn't just play; he dominated, helping Clemson win two National Championships and cementing himself as a first-team All-American.
Since being taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Lawrence has proven he’s the best in the business. With over 340 tackles and 30.5 career sacks, he has evolved from a run-stuffer into a pocket-collapsing nightmare.
Why the Bengals?
The trade terms haven't been fully disclosed, but the fit is perfect. Cincinnati is getting a veteran leader and proven winner. For Lawrence, it’s a fresh start with a contender after years as the Giants' most consistent defensive weapon.
Seeing Dexy in Bengals stripes—joining fellow Clemson alum Tee Higgins—is going to make Cincinnati the "Clemson of the North." New York might be moving on to "adjust their roster," but we know the truth: you don’t just replace a guy like Dexter Lawrence.
