Every Clemson player must know their role versus Miami, and that certainly includes Tait Reynolds.

Ahead of the biggest game of his life so far, Tait Reynolds does not seem to be too concerned about who his Week 5 opponent is. Even if he is up against it when Clemson takes on Miami, Reynolds has the right attitude going in. While he may be the future of Clemson football, Reynolds knows he will have to lean on his teammates to pull off the monumental upset. He does not have to be the hero.

"No, I don't feel any pressure at all. I'm not putting any pressure on myself," Reynolds said during Wednesday afternoon's press conference on if he feels the pressure coming in. "That's kind of something that's made up in mind, and I'm not really worried about anything. Just trust the guys around me, trust them to do their job, and try to do mine." This will serve Clemson in its upset bid.

The most practical way for Clemson to defeat Miami is by handing the ball off to Gideon Davidson and play great football in the other two phases of the game. Clemson has been superb on special teams all season long. After getting blown out on the road at the LSU Tigers, Clemson has bounced back to put forth an increasingly strong defense. Frankly, all the pressure is on Tom Allen's side of the football.

Tait Reynolds knows he does not have to put the team on his back just yet

Reynolds' response is another example of him being so mature for his age. In many instances, young players will want to overachieve to try and impress everyone. This puts unwanted pressure on them, often causing them to fail to live up to the great expectations they have placed upon themselves. No, this does not mean Reynolds is comfortable being a game manager. He knows his role for this team.

In time, Reynolds may get his chance to put this team on his back and carry them. However, he has a talented running back to hand the ball off to in Davidson, as well as a strong defensive coordinator in Allen backing him up on the other side of the ball. As long as Reynolds plays within himself, Clemson will have a chance in this one. He just cannot have the mental mistakes he put on display versus Cal.

Right now, Clemson has to come to grips with the Tigers being at a talent disadvantage when hosting the Hurricanes on Saturday night. Clemson does have other factors working in its favor, such as it being at home, the weather potentially being less than stellar, and of course, the underdog mindset. However, the stars have to be stars, and the role players need to play their roles to perfection to win.

In short, anyone overstepping their bounds could throw the whole thing off. Clemson is an improving team, but it is not yet one that can afford to make costly mistakes versus a high-quality opponent and overcome them. This team has to play with confidence to gain more confidence. At the top of the list has to be Reynolds. Fortunately, he does seem to realize that he cannot win this game but only lose it.

If this game were to be played in the latter part of the season, Reynolds might be asked to do more.
