Confidence is key in college football. How often do you see players fold under pressure because they're playing timidly and don't truly believe they're the best at what they do? It's pretty common.
Fortunately, that confidence is not lacking at Clemson.
This team is buying into its own hype which isn't exactly a bad thing unless they start reading too many positive headlines and don't put in the work to live up to it. But it's clear that these guys have plenty of confidence and that's because they have the most returning production of any team in the Power Four. These guys believe that they're the best.
Just ask TJ Moore.
The second-year receiver had a huge freshman season with Clemson, catching 45 passes for 651 yards and five touchdowns and he also had to split targets with Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco, and Tyler Brown. All of those guys were key pieces to a playoff run and they combine to form one of the best receiving corps in the country.
Adding in Tristan Smith from the transfer portal and an argument could be made for Clemson having the No. 1 receiving corps in the country.
Pro Football Focus ranked the Tigers' receiving corps No. 3 nationally earlier this week and Moore took notice and even took exception to the ranking. He quote tweeted it with a laughing emoji which only means one thing: he's ready to prove PFF wrong.
All this offseason talk and confidence is great, but we've seen the hype like this happen and teams didn't quite live up to it. The Tigers have to be careful so that doesn't happen in 2025.
Moore, however, believes that Clemson has at least a top-two receiving corps in the country.
We're about to find out.
