Dabo Swinney defended Clemson’s long-term foundation Tuesday, pointing to championships, graduation rates, and culture. He insists the Tigers are “in a good spot” despite this year’s struggles.

Even as he shouldered the blame for Clemson’s recent struggles, Dabo Swinney made one thing clear: the program’s backbone is stronger than ever.

“Our program is great. Our program is built right. Our program has never been built better,” Swinney said.

He highlighted the broader accomplishments beyond the win-loss column.

“The No. 1 thing in our program is graduation and we lead the nation there. No. 2 thing is build great men and we’ve done that. But also a part of the program is winning championships. Every signing class in 17 years here has won a national championship,” Swinney said.

That track record includes 14 straight successful seasons and 11 titles. Swinney believes those benchmarks prove Clemson’s core remains intact.

“The function of the program is… I don’t think we could be better. But this team and this moment? We have to be better,” he admitted.

The message to fans and recruits was clear: Clemson is still Clemson, and its foundation isn’t shaken — even if the 2025 season has exposed cracks on the field.
