This Clemson offseason has been nothing short of wild, and if you thought things were settling down in Tiger Town, think again. We just finished welcoming Andre Morgan, Chad Warner, and Chris Harriman to the family, but before we could even catch our breath, the doors at Littlejohn are spinning once more.

Saturday brought more big news for the Tiger faithful: assistant coach Sean Dixon and general manager Lucas McKay are both moving on, as first reported by Tiger Illustrated’s Larry Williams. That makes five staffers gone this offseason—a jaw-dropping shakeup for a program still riding high from its unforgettable Elite Eight journey.

A Defensive Mind Heads to the Derby City

Sean Dixon, who came to Clemson from Georgia in 2022, is heading up to Louisville. We don’t know his exact role with the Cardinals yet, but there’s no question about the mark he left in the Upstate. Dixon was the mastermind behind our wings and a driving force in building a defense that ranked among the nation’s best two years running.

Beyond the X's and O's, Dixon was a force on the recruiting trail. His deep roots in Atlanta were instrumental in landing talents like Zac Foster and current four-star commit Harris Reynolds. Losing that pipeline to a conference rival stings, but it’s a testament to the caliber of coaches Brownell has been grooming in Clemson.

End of an Era: McKay Heads to Norman

The toughest goodbye might be Lucas McKay. For a dozen years, he’s been Brownell’s right-hand man in Tigertown, climbing the ladder from video coordinator all the way to General Manager. Their partnership goes way back, even before Clemson, to Wright State and UNC Wilmington.

Now McKay is off to Oklahoma, taking on a front-office job with the Sooners after being handpicked by AD Roger Denny. Over his years in orange, McKay was one of the unsung heroes behind Clemson’s best run ever, including that storybook 2024 Elite Eight. Watching him leave Brownell’s side really feels like the end of an era, but there’s no doubt the SEC is getting one of the best in the business.

The New-Look Tigers

With Billy Donlon off to lead Eastern Michigan and longtime vets Dick Bender and Jeff Reynolds hanging it up for a well-earned retirement, the Clemson bench is going to have a whole new look next season.
