Returning home to Clemson after spending one season in the SEC with Georgia, forward RJ Godfrey is having a phenomenal start in his senior campaign.
The Suwanee, Georgia, native, Godfrey, is one of five players in the country who are averaging at least 12 points per game, six rebounds per game, two assists per game, and shooting at least 67% from the floor, as of Saturday, according to the official X account of Clemson basketball. As a senior who spent one season at Georgia, Godfrey is a leader for Clemson and is a pivotal piece for Brad Brownell’s 2025-2026 Clemson team.

Through the first nine games in 2025-2026, Godfrey is averaging 12.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.8 blocks and steals per contest. Shooting 67.2% from the field, Godfrey is very efficient in his shot selection in his first nine games played this season. The Suwanee native is a big reason why Clemson has started 7-2, with double-digit comeback victories over West Virginia and, notably, Georgia, Godfrey’s old team.
Over his 111-game career, Godfrey is averaging 5.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per contest over his four seasons (three at Clemson). Starting in 41 out of his 111 games played, the 6’8” forward, Godfrey, has been effective as a starter. Starting in all 33 games for Georgia last season, Godfrey averaged 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and one assist per game as a starter last season.
Leading the team in points, rebounds, blocks per game, and shooting percentage (67.2%), Godfrey is one of the biggest reasons that Clemson is off to a 7-2 record to start the 202-2026 season.
If Clemson is going to be competitive in a loaded ACC with Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, and others, Clemson needs Godfrey to continue playing at a high level inside. Creating shots close to the basket not only helps Godfrey find his offensive groove, but his great play on the inside will also help outside shooters get more open looks from behind the arc.
