The ACC decides to get into the troll business by naming Barrett Carter the 25th-best player in 2024

The Atlantic Coast Conference displayed yet another embarrassing display of incompetence by naming the player that finished 3rd in preseason POY voting as the 25th best player in the conference.

The 2024 college football season is right around the corner. Clemson Football has kicked off their fall camp and fans have begun the countdown to the huge opener against the Georgia Bulldogs.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but there is still some ‘talking season’ left before toe meets leather.

One of the more popular exercises of the offseason is to rank the best players for the upcoming season. The NFL has created a lot of hype in the last few years by putting a Top 100 list out there.

The ACC has decided to jump on board with a Top 25 list of players for the upcoming 2024 season. They launched it yesterday by revealing No. 25.

Drum roll please:

Uh, really?

The ACC decided to name Barrett Carter No. 25. Carter is a solid player who is on a lot of NFL radars. He has been named to several preseason teams and awards watchlists.

No doubt that Carter should be on the ACC’s list. The problem is that he is at No. 25. One would think a player who is on three first-team and two second-team All-American teams would be higher than No. 25.

In fact, the media who attended the ACC Kickoff and voted for preseason awards and predictions had Carter third in ACC Preseason Player of the Year, trailing only Cam Ward and Omarion Hampton.

Carter received more votes at his position in preseason All-ACC voting than any other player on the team.

Let this sink in: the ACC literally released their preseason player of the year voting, which had Carter as third, on the same day they released their ranking of Carter as 25th.

The ACC has been criticized mightily for poor production in the past few seasons, primarily because of the ACC Network. Now the digital side has gotten in on the action.

This is another embarrassing display of incompetence by the Atlantic Coast Conference. It is amazing that there are Clemson fans who still want to be in this league.
