Clemson Tigers News: Zach Owens, Jaedyn Zackery, Max Buchanon

Another Clemson Football player enters the transfer portal
The second post-spring exit from Clemson Football dropped yesterday when Zach Owens entered the transfer portal. Owens was a 4-star prospect from McDonough, Georgia.
Owens saw decent playing time in the Spring Game, mainly lining up at tackle. 247Sports has yet to assign him a transfer ranking.
Notably, the two transfers following spring practice came from the two position groups where there are new position coaches. Adam Kissayi committed to Clemson before Chris Rumph came aboard, and Owens was recruited by Thomas Austin, not Matt Luke.
We shouldn’t assume that this was ‘cleaning house’ by the Tigers, because most inside observers don’t believe the staff operates in this fashion. It is very realistic to wonder if both players simply didn’t mesh with their new coaches. I think it is fair to say both Rumph and Luke have a more intense style than either of their predecessors.
Clemson Men’s Basketball continues to add talent
One bit of news that I neglected to mention yesterday was the addition of Jaedyn Zackery to Clemson Men’s Basketball. Zackery is a guard transferring in from Boston College.
Josh Beadle left the Tigers to join BC, so this is the second season in a row that Clemson has effectively made a ‘trade’ with another ACC program. Last offseason Jack Clark came to Clemson from NC State while Ben Middlebrooks left for the Wolfpack.
Clemson has used all of their available scholarships for the 2025 season, pending upcoming decisions by PJ Hall and Chase Hunter. Both players are eligible to return but have not announced publicly whether they will take advantage of their remaining eligibility.
4-star offensive lineman includes Clemson Football in his top schools
Interior offensive line prospect Max Buchanon has included Clemson in his Top 6 schools.
Buchanon is 6’-4” and 275 pounds and hails from Sanford, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite.
