Clemson Tigers News: Women's Soccer, Barrett Carter, new television affiliate

The first action of the 2024-25 calendar takes place tonight at Historic Riggs Field and Barrett Carter is named to another watchlist.

The fall season begins today at Historic Riggs Field

The 2024-25 athletic season is finally here!

The fall calendar kicks off on campus at Historic Riggs Field as Clemson Women’s Soccer hosts the Georgia Bulldogs in exhibition.

The Tigers are coming off an appearance in the Final Four of women’s soccer in the College Cup in 2023.

The match starts at 7:00 PM.

The Tigers will play a second exhibition before opening their regular season on the road against Auburn. They will open their home schedule on August 18th against High Point.

Barrett Carter named to the Wuerffel Trophy watchlist

The Wuerffel Trophy released its watchlist for the 2024 season. Clemson Football linebacker Barrett Carter was included.

The Wuerffel Trophy is given annually to the college football player "who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement."

The award is named after Danny Wuerffel, who played quarterback for the Florida Gators from 1993-96. He played in the NFL for New Orleans, Green Bay, Chicago, and Washington.

Carter has also been named to the Lott IMPACT watchlist. Other Tigers who have been named to watchlists include:

Phil Mafah (Maxwell)

Blake Miller (Outland)

Peter Woods (Bronko Nagurski)

Dabo Swinney (Dodd Trophy)

The Tigers are making a change to their television programming this year. They are moving their shows from the CBS affiliate WSPA in Spartanburg to the FOX affiliate WHNS in Greenville.

Popular X poster Austin Pendergist announced that he had the honor of designing the new jerseys for Clemson Men’s Soccer this season.

Clemson United is coming off a national championship in 2023. They will open their 2024 season with an exhibition at Charlotte on August 10th.
