Clemson Women's Basketball 76, North Carolina 82: The Tigers lose their first ACC game of the season against the Tar Heels on the road.
Clemson is now 1-1 in conference play with an earlier victory over the Duke Blue Devils.
Amari Robinson led the way for the Tigers with 21 points. Dayshannette Harris had 19 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
The Tigers will next host Florida State on January 7th.
Will Shipley gets good news from MRI
While most of the news from Clemson Football in the Gator Bowl turned out to be positive, there was one scary moment.
Will Shipley was injured late in the game and remained on the sideline after appearing to injure his leg.
Eventually, Shipley has loaded on a cart and driven into the locker room, which is always concerning when a player can’t leave under his own power.
Fortunately, the injury news for Shipley is positive following an MRI.
Shipley has yet to announce if he will return to Clemson in 2024 or enter the NFL Draft.
Transfer Portal Updates
Some of the quarterback movements in the transfer portal are starting to come into focus and they will impact Clemson Football and the ACC.
The crown jewel of the quarterbacks has been Cam Ward, who played for Washington State this past season. Ward will either declare for the NFL Draft or he will transfer to Miami.
Ward is a legitimate talent and would easily be the best quarterback for the Hurricanes in a long time.
Florida State was in the running for Ward, but now that he has narrowed his focus, it looks like a familiar name is the front-runner to be the Seminoles' next quarterback.
Pete Thamel mentions that the NFL is still an option for DJ Uiagalelei, but I do think we see both Ward and DJU in the ACC in 2024. This gives both programs a boost.
Clemson’s in-state rival is also looking at another transfer quarterback with a familiar name.
Chandler Morris played briefly for Garrett Riley at TCU before injury ended his 2022 season.
Clemson Football 2024 player Christian Bentancur was recently announced as a participant in the Polynesian Bowl All-Star game. Now Bentancur has been added to the All-American Bowl All-Star game as well.
Bentancur’s classmate, Sammy Brown, has been named as the High School Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Tim Bourret dropped this little tidbit on X.
Bourret clarified that this was for active coaches with at least ten full seasons under their belt, so while some like Kirby Smart and Ryan Day have higher win percentages, they haven’t hit the ten-season mark yet.
Here is a great video clip of Jonathan Weitz’s 52-yard field goal against Kentucky in the Gator Bowl.
