Clemson Tigers News: Trevor Lawrence, Barrett Carter, McKenzie Clark

Trevor Lawrence agrees to a big contract extension
Clemson Football alum Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed in principle to a five-year contract extension.
The total value of the extension is $275 million. $142 million is fully guaranteed.
Only Deshaun Watson and Joe Burrow have contracts that guarantee the same or more money.
The $55 million per year salary is tied with Burrow for the most in the league.
Of the 2021 quarterbacks drafted in the first round, Lawrence might be the only one who gets a big extension before their initial five-year contracts expire. Zach Wilson and Trey Lance have not worked out for their teams. Mac Jones and Justin Fields are presently in limbo, with Fields changing teams this offseason. Neither are guaranteed to play this season.
Barrett Carter added to the ‘way-too-early’ All-American team
PFF has compiled their way-too-early All-American team for 2024 and they have included Clemson Football’s Barrett Carter.
"Carter was a preseason All-American candidate but faced some struggles in 2023. He returned to Clemson for 2024 in the hopes of getting back to his sophomore-year form, when he finished with an 81.4 PFF overall grade. All the talent is still there for Carter, and Clemson’s defense will continue to be one of the nation’s best."

PFF has also rated Clemson’s linebackers as the best group in the nation for the second season in a row.
"Wade Woodaz is another returning starter who was third among ACC linebackers with a 49.7 passer rating allowed in 2023. Kobe McCloud is expected to take over the starting spot vacated by Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and earned a 75.4 PFF grade on 90 snaps last season. Finally, the Tigers also welcomed five-star true freshman Sammy Brown into the fold."
