Clemson Tigers News: Gymnastics wins final home match on Military Appreciation Day

Clemson had their shares of ups and downs across the sports spectrum this weekend.

Clemson Athletics had another busy weekend as we approach March Madness and other NCAA championships. Here are some recaps we’ve had on Rubbing The Rock.

Clemson Men’s Basketball lost at Wake Forest in their final regular season game. Read the recap here.

Clemson Softball went 4-2 last week and hosted the Clemson Invitational. The weekend recap is here.

Clemson Baseball swept all four games last week and prepare to open the ACC season at Duke, who just won a series against the No. 1 team in the nation. Read the recap here.

Clemson Gymnastics

The Tigers won their final home match of the season against Air Force on Military Appreciation Day and Senior Night. Here are the high scorers in each category for Clemson:

Vault: Rebecca Wells – 9.900

Bars: Kaitlan DeGuzman – 9.925

Beam: Rebecca Wells – 9.950

Floor: Brie Clark – 9.950

The Tigers next travel to UCLA on March 16th before they begin the ACC Championship the following weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Clemson Track & Field

The Tigers had two first-team and eight second-team All-Americans following the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts.

Tarees Rhoden finished fifth in the finals of the Men’s 800 Meter. Likewise, Marie Forbes finished fifth in the finals of the Women’s Weight Throw. Both finished as first-team All-Americans for the second season in a row.

Clemson starts their outdoor season on March 15-16 at UCF.

Clemson Lacrosse faced their biggest test of the season against No. 8 North Carolina and lost 18-9. Kayla Macleod scored a team-high four goals. They face Wofford tonight in Spartanburg.

Clemson Women’s Tennis lost both road contests of the weekend 4-0 against Duke and then North Carolina.

Clemson Men’s Tennis lost 4-0 to NC State and 4-1 to Wake Forest.

Clemson Women’s Golf finished 7th out of 17 teams in the Valspar Augusta Invitational over the weekend. Ole Miss won the tournament, followed by South Carolina and Michigan.
