Clemson Baseball pitcher enters the transfer portal
Clemson Baseball took another step this season by advancing to the Super Regionals before exiting the NCAA Tournament.
Now that the season has concluded, players have the option to enter the transfer portal.
The first Tiger to decide to move on has announced his departure.
Pitcher Billy Barlow posted this on X:
Barlow is from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is a right-handed pitcher and a redshirt sophomore, which means he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Barlow had a 6-1 record on ten starts for Clemson this season with an ERA of 4.28, the lowest in his college career.
Clemson Softball misses Coaches Top 25
Clemson Softball exited the NCAA Tournament early this season after two losses to Southeastern Louisiana in the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tigers remained ranked in the ESPN and D1Softball final season polls but weren’t so fortunate in the Coach’s poll.
The Tigers finished with the 27th most votes in the Coach’s poll, which means they finished unranked for the first time in the program’s history (excluding the pandemic-shortened inaugural season in 2020).
Other news and notes from around Clemson athletics:
Jas Joyner has joined the staff of Clemson Women’s Basketball as Director of Relations.
In related news, I need to find the basketball she has in that picture.
In case some of you have been seeing the (unsubstantiated) rumors about Cam Cannarella possibly entering the transfer portal, it looks like they were the typical junk we hear this time of the year.
Clemson Football recruiting target Mal Waldrep announced his verbal commitment to Alabama yesterday.
Waldrep was an attendee at Clemson’s Official Visit Weekend and then visited Alabama this past weekend. He has close ties to the Crimson Tide program and announced a decision quickly in their favor.
Waldrep would have been a good get for Matt Luke, but he has more options to fill out the class.
