Clemson Softball will face Virginia in the ACC Tournament, Sierra Leone finishes second in the Kentucky Derby by a nose (literally), and Baseball wins their series against Georgia Tech.

Clemson Softball will be the 5-seed in the ACC Tournament

Clemson Softball was off this weekend while the rest of the conference finished their regular season schedules. Now that the games are complete, the Tigers know their next challenge.

Clemson has earned the 5-seed in the ACC Tournament. They will play the Virginia Cavaliers at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 9th.

The Tigers will be the designated road team for the game, which will be held in Durham, North Carolina.

The tournament starts with two games on Wednesday.

Duke is the overall top seed, followed by Florida State and Virginia Tech.

Sierra Leone finishes second at the Kentucky Derby in a photo finish

Colt Sierra Leone, co-owned by Clemson alum Brook T. Smith, finished second in this weekend’s Kentucky Derby, but not by much.

The race was made official after a photo-finish review that involved three horses.

Mystik Dan won the race, with Forever Young just a hair behind Sierra Leone. No word yet if Sierra Leone will race in the next Triple Crown race, the Preakness Stakes, on May 18th.

Clemson Baseball won their weekend series with Georgia Tech with a 9-3 victory on Sunday. The Tigers are now 36-10 overall and 17-7 in the ACC.

Clemson is in the race for the overall top seed in the ACC with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Tigers are currently tied with North Carolina for the best record in the conference with two weeks of games remaining. Clemson will face Wake Forest this weekend and then close with a series against Boston College.

Their next contest is Tuesday against the Charlotte 49ers.

Clemson Women’s Golf begins the Bryan, Texas NCAA Regional today. The regional will consist of three rounds of stroke play today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It will be played at The Traditions Club.
