Clemson got a win over NC State on Saturday but suffered a loss on the recruiting trail.

Defensive lineman prospect Isaiah Campbell decommitted from Clemson a few hours after the Tigers' convincing 59-35 victory over the Wolfpack. He announced his decision on X (formerly Twitter). The four-star prospect wrote, "After much prayer & counsel, I am announcing my #deccommitment from Clemson University. At this time, I am continuing to build relationships with schools that share my values & goals..."

The last line, in particular, is odd. When recruits make these posts, they usually say, 'It's what's best for my family and me,' or something about it being a business decision, but he specifically cites his values and goals. What values are conflicting? With Dabo Swinney not using the portal, younger players will start more often. Is that not included in his goals? It's a little confusing and maybe points to something bigger behind the scenes.

Campbell is the second DL to decommit this cycle, with four-star Bryce Davis switching his decision to Duke in August. The Tigers' 2025 class is still fine on the DL despite the decommitments. According to 247Sports, Clemson's top-2 recruits — Amare Adams and Ari Watford — are consensus four-star defensive linemen.

Clemson is currently ranked No. 19 in the country with 13 commitments.
