It's been two weeks since we last saw some Clemson football, and what better way to get back into the grove than a win over a conference opponent?

The Tigers start ACC play against an NC State team reeling after a bad loss to Tennessee two weeks ago and losing its starting quarterback to injury. But you know what happens when you back a wolf into a corner; they get dangerous. Can Clemson take care of business, or will NC State come out on top?

Clemson catches a break this week with NC State having to go to its backup QB, C.J. Bailey, following an injury to starter Grayson McCall last week. Asking a freshman QB to solve a tough Tiger defense in his first start is not what the Wolfpack wants.

What’s more, to do so on the road will be an even tougher task for Bailey. Look for the Wolfpack to play hard as they always do under head coach Dave Doeren, but effort alone won’t be enough to win this game. Clemson has the talent edge across the board, and especially now at quarterback, so the Tigers should roll.

The Tigers have an opportunity to reclaim a lot of hope on Saturday.  If the theme around Appalachian states was gaining back confidence, NC State is about gaining back belief. Starting conference play with a bang will help Clemson build momentum going into the rest of the season, giving them a shot to reach the ACC Championship.

Thankfully, they catch a break this week as the Wolfpack’s starting QB, Grayson McCall, will not play due to an injury against LA Tech. The Tigers walk away from Saturday with a relatively easy win, save any Florida State-esque letdown after a bye week.
