Clemson Men's Basketball: Final weekend of season will determine Tigers' seed in ACC Tournament

Clemson sits in fourth place in the ACC with one game remaining, but the outcome of their contest at Wake Forest and others this weekend could shift the standings considerably.

This is the final weekend of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season. We have reasonably good clarity about where most teams, including Clemson Men’s Basketball, stand concerning the NCAA Tournament.

The ACC Tournament is another story, and outside of the two top-ranked teams – North Carolina and Duke (shocking, I know) – seeds 3-10 are all going to depend on this final weekend of competition.

The Tigers have positioned themselves well for a top-4 seed if they can win their final game. That won’t be a simple task. Clemson will travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday evening.

Clemson is 21-9 overall and 11-8 in the ACC standings, tied with Pittsburgh. Wake is 10-9 in the ACC. Following a big win on their home court against Duke, the Deacs have dropped three in a row.

Wake Forest is one of the few teams that is truly on the bubble for the Big Dance. While thought to be in after their win against the Blue Devils, their recent slide has some thinking they might be on the wrong side of the bubble now.

Clemson, on the other hand, has been good on the road this season but they are coming off a loss to Notre Dame in South Bend. The Tigers are 7-2 in their last nine contests.

I think the question for this game will be if the Deacons have the resolve to muster up the effort necessary to win their final home game and play well in the ACC Tournament.

Hunter Sallis leads Wake in scoring with 18.2 points per game. Efton Reid leads in rebounds with 8.0 per game.

Clemson holds an edge in experience, but only slightly. Wake is led mostly by juniors and seniors.

The game starts at 6:00 PM on the ACC Network. ESPN’s Matchup Predictor favors Wake on their home floor with a 59.9% chance of victory.
