Clemson Football has received its second commitment for the Class of 2026.

Shavar Young, Jr. has announced a verbal commitment to the Tigers.

Young is classified as an athlete by 247Sports. He has a 4-star rating in their Composite and is ranked 182nd overall.

He announced his commitment on his Instagram account.

Young will play high school ball for the Webb School of Knoxville in Tennessee this season (thus the Tennessee fake during his announcement). He is 5’-11” and 180 pounds.

Young received two Crystal Ball projections on 247Sports and a projection by Tiger Illustrated to select Clemson yesterday. He was also considering Tennessee, Kentucky, and Oregon. He has offers from 29 FBS programs, including Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Young’s primary recruiters from Clemson were Mike Reid and Mickey Conn, which suggests he will likely fit into a defensive backfield role with the Tigers, probably as a cornerback.

Young’s sophomore highlights with Brentwood Academy in Tennessee can be found on Hudl. He was a two-way player for Brentwood. His highlights include several plays as a receiver and a defensive back. He also contributed to special teams.

One thing stands out quickly on both sides of the ball: Young is very quick. He has good straight-line speed as well as agility.

Young becomes the second member of Clemson’s Class of 2026. Their first commitment was from quarterback Tait Reynolds.

While the Tigers are just getting started with the 2026 cycle, Young probably won’t be the only cornerback prospect taken. The Tigers only have one corner in the Class of 2025 (Grayson Littleton of Zephyrhills, Florida). While it is possible every cornerback on the 2024 roster could return for the 2025 season, there would be at least a couple departing before 2026 when Young arrives. Clemson will probably want at least one more prospect to bring in alongside Young.
