Well, that was rough.

Clemson went into Atlanta today expecting to compete with the No. 1 team in the nation, Georgia. Instead, the Bulldogs embarrassed them 34-3.

The loss to Georgia today was expected, but Clemson losing by more than 30 points wasn't. The offense was disgustingly bad. Klubnik looked like he hadn't progressed from last season. He showed flashes of greatness, like his pass to Antonio Williams in the first quarter. But his performance overall was atrocious. He finished with 142 yards, going 18-29 for a 62 percent clip.

Georgia held Clemson to less than 50 yards rushing, but Phil Mafah gained 59 yards on 16 carries. Klubnik's two sacks dropped the total by 17 yards. The offensive line was decent in pass protection but never produced push in the ground attack. That must change if Clemson wants a shot to make the ACC championship.

The defense gave Georgia all it wanted in the first half, holding the Bulldogs to 160 yards of offensive and six points. Unfortunately, the second half wasn't as kind. Cason Beck finished with 278 yards and two touchdowns with a 70 percent completion rate. After rushing for only seven yards in the first half, Georgia ran for 169 yards, with freshman running back Nate Frazier.

Clemson moves on to Appalachian State. They take on the Mountaineers at home on Saturday, September 7, at 8:00 PM.
