Next slide: Q & As cont.

Q: Mike Norvell has been at Florida State since 2020 and has produced an ACC championship and two 10-plus-win seasons. However, the start of 2024 has been nothing short of catastrophic. What’s the overall vibe of the fanbase going into the second half of the regular season specifically regarding Norvell?

A: I think most fans still believe in Norvell, but realize he needs to make big changes to his staff. They have four guys well over 50 yrs old who don’t love to recruit. They’ve wanted to see the young guys get action to start building towards next year. FSU has some winnable games in the second half, so if they can get to say four or five wins and Brock Glenn looks like the guy, it’ll pacify them until the offseason rolls around to see what changes get made.

Q: Who are some FSU players Clemson fans need to know before the game?

A: Ja’Khi Douglas is the most dependable receiver. Clemson fans probably remember tailback Lawrance Toafili from the crazy TD catch he had on the wheel route against Clemson in 2021. Joshua Farmer at defensive tackle has played well and will likely cause havoc. Hykeem Williams is a former five-star who has great potential.

Q: Clemson and Florida State rivalry is one of the most exciting in the ACC. What are some of your favorite memories of the series?

A: Dustin Hopkins with the walk-off 55-yard FG in 2010 that would have been good from 65+.My favorite matchup of all time is the 2012 game when Clemson jumped all over FSU, but the Noles stormed back to beat Clemson handedly. 2013 game. Getting the stop against Clemson in 2014 and winning in OT.

I’m still ticked off as the bogus penalty in the 2016 game that called back a huge Dalvin Cook run that probably cost FSU that game. Speaking of, Dalvin Cook always seemed to have monster games against Brent Venables. The play Kalen DeLoach made to strip sack Klubnik, and run it back for a touchdown last year was a game-changer.
