Being an All-American is something nearly every athlete dreams of being. One Tiger received that honor on Monday. The Associated Press named Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter as a first-team preseason All-American.

Last season, Carter finished behind only Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in total tackles with 88. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, and an interception. He could have opted to go pro after the 2023 season. Instead, he decided there was unfinished business at Clemson. Now, the Suwanee, Ga. native is being rewarded by being named an All-American.

Carter was joined by two other elite LBs, with Jay Higgins of Iowa and LSU's Harold Perkins making the first team roster. Four ACC athletes also made AP's preseason All-American. Louisville edge Ashton Gillotte and Florida State punter Alex Mastromanno earned a first-team selection, while kicker Andres Borregales of Miami made the second team.
